Real
believers in Jesus Christ do not belong to this world.
As children of God, we belong to a heavenly homeland. I
refer to as, real, because there are many that call
themselves christians, but they love the world more than
God. The Bible says in James' Epistle (James 4:4)
: "You adulterous
people, don't you know that friendship with the world is
hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of
the world becomes an enemy of God."
John's
Epistle (1John 2:15) warns us about this issue:
"Do not love the world or anything in the
world. If anyone loves the world, the
love of the Father is not
in him."
The Scriptures are clear and understandable. If you call
yourself a christian, take these words seriously, not as
a judgement or sentence, but as a warning. We live in
the world but we don't belong to the world. Learn
to establish the borderings and decide not to trespass
them.
"The world and its
desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God
lives forever." 1
John 2:17
If you're
part of those ambivalent, inconstant, and double-minded
people, that are unstable in all they do; those that
walk with God one day and the next day they follow the
insinuations of the prince of this world, LOOK OUT! you
could be walking in a tightrope from which you could
fall anytime. Don't you despise such a great
salvation! If you has really tasted the friendship
with Jesus, it sounds impossible that you look in the
world for that which only Jesus can give you. The world
resembles a mirage, a false dream and illussion; it
offers you a lot, but later, it will steal you more than
you have received. It looks more charming every
day to those who pretend to fill their lives with air; the same way they
get blowed up, likewise is their emptiness. They're
always unsatisfied, nothing lasts for them; they are
constantly trying to fill in a space that only Christ can
fulfill. Open your eyes ... don't you change the
gold of eternity for poor imitations; give the blessings
God has given you its true value and be aware not to be
deceived.
Do you
feel unsatisfied, empty, discouraged, sad and
distressed, even though you're part of God's family?
Are you looking for something you feel is lacking and
you're trying to get it in the world? If that's
your condition, you have been trying to swim by the sea
and, everyone knows that's impossible. If you want to
really enjoy, you must dare to go deeply. That's
the place where the most wonderful and valuable
treasures are hidden. They are not comparable with
everything the world can offer.
Don't you
resign with the least; live to take possession of all
God has for you. Make Jesus, not an ocassional
friend, but your personal and intimate Friend whom you
can trust and rely always. Life with Jesus is not an
idea, nor an utopia; He is real, He's a beautiful,
interesting, and lovely reality. Get in love with Him
and be delighted in His word, more sweet than honey, and
you will enjoy the fullness of life in the days yet to
come. Begin now to enjoy the abundant life God has
for all His children .... those that have accepted His
son Jesus, as their Savior, their Friend, and their
Lord. The world is not our home, we're strangers and
pilgrims here, where everything is perishable and
passing. Our home is in heaven; we are anxious to get
there and enjoy
it eternally.
These all died in faith, not having received the
promises but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed
that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare
plainly that they seek a homeland. And truly if they had called to mind that country from
which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a
better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God,
for He has prepared a city for them. Hebrews 11:13-16
