The Will of God Do not
be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the
One of the things that worries the most and produces a great deal of confusion to many believers, is the will of God. JESUS says in JOHN 7:17: "If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on my own authority." JESUS spoke these words in the Feast of the Tabernacles; He went up into the Temple and taught. Some did'nt believe in Him, others were marveled of his words of wisdom. In this ocassion He wanted to clarify to all that doubted and were complaining concerning Him, that the only ones that might know whether the doctrine was from God or whether He spoke on His own authority, were those that really wanted to do the will of God. If we want to do the will of God because it is really important to us, we must discard our own. When the angel Gabriel announced Mary that she had been selected to be the mother of JESUS she reacted immediately, not that she doubted of God's power but because she knew it was impossible for she had not known a man. She could have doubted of those words, if it were God's or not, or she could have waited for God to confirm the message with signs, but deep in her heart she wanted to do the will of God, not hers, so she received that heavenly message immediately as of God and decided to obey saying: "Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word." [LUKE 1:38] There's a call from God to each of His children; there's a purpose for each of our lives; there's a divine plan that must be accomplished in each one of us. We all must resolve to say as JESUS said: "Nevertheless not my will, but Yours, be done." [LUKE 22:42] These words should take hold of our minds and hearts; doing God's will should be our deepest desire. That goal should be the strainer through which we should pass all of our businesses, those that belong to the church, and those that belong to our secular lives. We ask ourselves now, ¿How can I know what decision to take in such or such a matter? How do I know if it is this or that; if it's here or far away? How, when or where shall I do It? There are ocassions in which certain details are taken into consideration to get to know if God's in there or not, and we begin to imitate Gideon taking a "fleece of wool" as a sign. [JUDGES 6:36-40] This resulted to Gideon and it could result to us,only that our attempt should be a genuine one to obey what might result from the adventure. "Bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." [2.CORINTHIANS 10:5] God is not the author of confusion but of peace. He always reveals his plans in a way or another. Those that want to do his will, will be alert to His voice and will be able to distinguish it. If we long to obey Him He will always be ready to show us, to instruct us, and to direct us. Our God LIVES! Let's be aware and alert to the time we are living and do no permit that the course of this world influences us any way in our decisions, preventing us to remain in the route God has designed for us. Let's discard every thought which might seem a "reasonable" consideration of what we have to do or decide and let's ask the Lord for help in the "renewing of our minds, that we may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." [ROMANS 12:1-2] And if He pleases to send an angel, we give glory; and if He wants to use somebody, we also give Him glory, and if He likes to speak to us through His Word, we glorify His name... Let's be alert so that when He speaks we don't go to Eli to ask him: why did you call me? But that we might be able to say: "Speak, Lord, for your servant hears". [1 SAMUEL 3:1-10] "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts." ISAIAH 55:8-9
